The name Judah is close to the Hebrew word for praise which is “Yadah.” Judah was the fourth son born to Leah and Jacob. Genesis 29:35 (AMP) – Again she conceived and gave birth to a [fourth] son, and she said, “Now I will praise the Lord.” So she named him Judah; then [for a time] she stopped bearing [children]. He was also the one who convinced his brothers not to kill Joseph. (Genesis 37:26-27)
